SIMILAR SPECIES
Adults of the Zone-tailed Hawk and Frequent Black Hawk are simply confused, particularly when perched as people of each species have, on first look, an all-black physique, black wings, a thick medial and slender terminal white band on the tail, yellow legs and cere, and a black-tipped invoice. Nevertheless, the plumage of the Zone-tailed Hawk is extra distinctly black because it lacks the standard grayish solid of the Frequent Black Hawk.
